INS Makar Commissioned at Karwar

The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, Vice Admiral Shekhar Sinha commissioned INS Makar into the Indian Navy today.

Makar is a Catamaran Hydrographic Survey Vessel and is the first of its kind to be inducted in the Indian Navy. The Vessel is indigenously built by Alcock Ashdown Gujarat Ltd. INS Makar is another statement of the potential of the indigenous Warship Building Industry. Spectoms in July 2011 had bagged the order for manufacturing Window Wiper Control System for all six vessels of this class. Our R&D team put their heads together and came up with a customized solution for the inclined bridge windows on board. The systems after going through rigorous testing procedures as per Navy standards, were successfully comissioned on board in November 2012.

SMM Exhibition 2011

SMM India is one of the most comprehensive gatherings of maritime industry and government representatives on the Indian subcontinent. It returned to Mumbai for the second time and cemented its place as one of the region’s premier business events. SMM India attracted around 100 reknowned exhibitors from around the world, showcasing their innovations to an eager audience that comprised 3,000 visitors and delegates from over 30 countries. The accompanying SMM India 2011 conference – Indian Shipbuilding & Repairing for the 21st Century – attracted numerous high- caliber national and international speakers. It addressed current vital issues affecting the Indian maritime industry such as finance and investment, training and further education, as well as promoting cooperation with neighboring shipbuilding regions.

'Building the Builders Navy' Seminar

We, Spectoms Engineering Pvt. Ltd were honored to share the stage alongside some of the most prominent names in the marine industry and to voice our views and suggestions on some of the topics covered.

CII – Indian Navy Seminar on “Building the Builders Navy” was held at Hotel Le Royal Meridian, Chennai on the 21st of September,2012.The primary purpose of this seminar was to bring together all stakeholders and business associates of Indian Navy together to discuss the theme with a view of synergising efforts along with a special focus on bringing out the potential of channelling offset opportunities towards Navy – Industry - Academia partnerships. It not only aimed at delivering battle worthy Naval systems but also at exploring the potential to develop dual use of technologies. Some of the mention-worthy topics covered in this seminar were:: Initiative & Naval Opportunities for offset promotion . Navy Perspectives for Industry : Industry Academia Perspectives (R&D) ; Group Discussions on Accelerating Self Reliance through Industry Partnership ; Discussion of deliberations.

Project 28 for Indian Navy

Place : Kolkata

P 28 is Indian Navy's project for next-generation anti submarine warfare platform. Classified into Kamorta class Corvettes, these stae-of-the-art warships are being built at Garden reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd., Kolkata and the first vessel is scheduled to get commissioned by 2012. The basic design for Project 28 was specified by the Indian Navy's Directorate of Naval Design, with the detailed design done by GRSE. The design includes many stealth features, including reductions in noise and vibration of the vessels. Displacing around 2,500-3,000 tons and a length of around 110 metres, these vessels have a very high percentage of Indian made equipment – either designed indigenuously or built under license through technology transfer agreements. We, at Spectoms Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara have been working shoulder to shoulder with Indian navy and GRSE for turn-key solution on Window Wiper Control Systems on board these vessels.
